Sacred
By: S.L. Scott
I’ve just finished Sacred by S.L. Scott and as my first book by this author I was completely enchanted by the beauty she wrote, even amongst some very dark elements. I won’t do this book a disservice by telling you the storyline. I will just say that this story is a second chance romance in an unconventional manor of speaking. John “Cruise” Cristly and Clara Echart never saw each other coming but like the best things in life, this love story is very much the same. Going through the motions of life and truly living are vastly different. When these two shattered souls meet, and fall irrevocably in love they never dreamed that sometimes demons don’t stay dead. And their hard fought love will have to withstand more challenges.
I was completely unprepared to read this story. How can you not fall in-love with a hero who is a fallen angel even if he can’t see himself for the amazing man he is. Coming from his background, feeling abandoned and ever the ‘photo-op’ in his life, Cruise was the bad boy who wanted what his best friend had found – his soulmate. Though I have not read previous works by S.L. Scott, Cruise is mentioned in the Kingwood duet and Solace but this book is still a standalone. Scott is extremely talented in writing a story that came to life right before my vary eyes. I was in-love with the strength of her characters and the unique plot. Without coming into this story with any type of expectations I found that I was marvelously enchanted by the sweet man Cruise truly was with his Dove. The expectations that he laid aside to build a solid foundation for the two was beautiful and heartwarming.
The romance behind the sexy times made the characters more relatable in my head…even if the idea was to start at a one and done for all intents and purposes to see if sex was even remotely a possibility, Scott’s characters quickly saw each other in another light. Additionally, this book was obviously well thought out and written beautifully. I was prepared to buy the other three books I mentioned above, The Kingwood Duet- Savage and Savior, and Solace, yet I was pleasantly surprised to see I had purchased them previously. I see a very long marathon of S.L. Scott books in my future. If you like to binge read authors like I do, I think this author’s someone that you should take notice of and consider reading in the near future.
