The Thing About Love – 5 Smoldering, Brilliant Stars
The Thing About Love is my first Kim Karr book and all I can say is I loved it! I am usually a fan of emotional, angsty and gritty or dark romance but this book grabbed me from the first sentence. It is a mostly sweet, easy read with a few moments that really, really pulled on my heartstrings.
The Thing About Love is a medical romance. This troupe is not necessary in my favorites list BUT I can promise you that if Kim continues to write books this compelling and beautiful, it will quickly skyrocket to the top. Juliette Easton, a struggling wedding planner gets the chance of a lifetime to plan the wedding of Rory Kissinger to the son of the Governor of Georgia’s son, Kyle Harrison. Far from a romantic in spite of her current place of employment, Jules is just trying to keep the wedding planning company she inherited above water until she can sell it. In her initial interview with Rory and Kyle, Jules meets and fights an instant attraction to Dr. Jake Kissinger, brother to the bride. The attraction goes two ways, yet both Jake and Jules fight it until the sizzle rises and simple chemistry can no longer be ignored. The chemistry between Jake and Jules is scorching and explicit in an deeply delicious way that will leave readers looking for air conditioning or a cold shower. I certainly did.
Yet what stands out to me about Jake and Jules was just how lifelike Kim Karr made them. They had backstories that were beautiful and deep, well developed and entwined in a truly brilliant fashion throughout the book. The secondary characters also played an essential part in the story, those that one expects from the get go, and others who will take you by complete surprise. I can’t commend Kim Karr enough on one of the most quid essential parts of a beloved book, because without characters like Jake and Jules that readers can identify with, there is no lasting connection to a story. The use of duel perspectives was another well planned and executed component of The Thing About Love.
After reading The Thing About Love, I can honestly tell you that Kim Karr is skilled at building a plot that will suck you right in. This book offers beauty and sizzle while enticing readers with historical events that hold significant meaning to our country. For me, this certainly provided a hook that could not be disregarded. I won’t give away one of the major plot twist by saying more than this one the subject…sorry, not sorry!!! Read the book, you’ll thank me!!! Her work is truly well develop and executed beautiful in a tale that I plan to reread in the very, very near future! The use of dialogue and texting was key to this modern day fairytale. Toward the end of the book, I found myself taken by complete surprise by the plot twists that Kim Karr threw at us. They were genius and well timed, providing additional depth and the angst, heartache and beauty that rounded out this romance that made it my favorite book so far in 2018. The year is young, but I can promise that this book will remain on my favorite’s list regardless of what proceeds The Thing About Love. BUY THE BOOK! READ IT NOW. You will not be sorry…Obviously enough readers have determined already that Kim Karr and The Thing About Love deserve recognition as a bestseller!!!
