What He Always Knew by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
What He Always Knew is book two in the What He Doesn’t Know Duet by Kandi Steiner. Readers return to the love triangle that exists between Charlie, Cameron and Reese. Torn between the love she bares for the husband she’s built a life with and her first love, Charlie is irrevocably in-love with two very different men. Her husband Cameron who left her to wither and die inside and her first love, Reese, who ignites her soul after what feels like an eternity of solitude and anguish. Kandi Steiner continues the rollercoaster that she unleashed on audiences with the epic conclusion to this unsurpassed love story.
WOW. I am not sure were to start with this review because this book has left me completely mind blown for three days. If my schedule wasn’t packed so tight I would have literally dropped everything and started over with book one immediately and read through the whole duet from start to finish just to read it again. In my review of the first book of this duet, What He Doesn’t Know, I called Kandi Steiner’s book utterly incredible and it literally wasn’t enough praise. Now, as I sit writing this review, I am literally at a lost for words in conveying just how extraordinary these books really are. As a duet, I can say that absolutely no other love triangle I have read has captivated me more. Reading What He Always Knew then being forced to give it a five-star review is almost insulting to me. It’s like saying Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is only a five-star read. What He Always Knew should not be read as a standalone.
Kandi Steiner is an extremely talented author and I am humbled that I was given the opportunity to read and review these books for her. Readers experience an array of emotions within the cover of What He Always Knew. I was unsure what to expect when I took on the duet as I had not previously read Steiner and I will never again make the mistake of not one-clicking any (and all) books she produces. I have read triads and triangles before, but never this exceptionally well written. I usually prefer to read books where the H/h does not cheat, and this book obviously delves heavily in this. Yet, I urge you set aside any hard limits you might have regarding this and read this duet. I am not saying it makes adultery acceptable, not by any stretch of the imagination, but you might find yourself understanding the circumstances that led to Charlie’s own departure from the very sanctities that was the bedrock of who she was as a person.
I am not sure how Kandi Steiner wrote this story with out breaking her own heart in the process, because I absolutely did not walk away unscathed. I ugly cried to the point that I ended up with a migraine, and yet I would have immediately picked the book back up to reread it. While I thought by the end of the first book that I had my mind made up on who Charlie needed to be with… while I thought there was nothing that could sway me from the course that I knew Charlie needed to follow… I would tell you that by the end of the second book, my convictions were severely rocked. Also, unless you read a spoiler in a review, it was absolutely impossible to have predicted who Charlie would end up with, and what floored me more was that I would agree with her choice! The What He Doesn’t Know Duet is absolutely the best love triangle I have ever read. You too will be glad to choose to dive into this extraordinarily beautiful read.
