Spark by Aleatha Romig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Absolutely Phenomenal. I’ve long wanted to read Aleatha Romig, but unfortunately Spark is the first time I have been able to find a space in my blog calendar to slip her in. I know, those of you who have read her already are shaking your heads at me, and trust me, right now I am KICKING myself! Her writing was absolutely phenomenal, and I was instantly thrust into a word where kingpins run Chicago and their rule is law. This is the first book in a new trilogy—known as the Web of Desire trilogy. My understanding is this storyline comes as the third trilogy of the Sparrow’s Web series. And in complete honesty, since I’ve obviously not read these in order since that would have entailed first reading the Web of Sin trilogy followed by the Tangled Web trilogy—I understood this book as if was the first in a new trilogy and not the seventh book of a series… Great care is taken to making the plotlines clear and without completely spoiling the other books in the Sparrow’s Web series, one can still pick up Spark and understand context. Does that make sense? HA! That was a tangled web in and of itself 😉
Spark kept me on the edge of seat and was utterly unputdownable—I stayed up most of the night to finish this one. Patrick and Madeline’s connection was tangible, with so much heat and sizzle, I worried my kindle (and my panties😉) were in jeopardy or self-combustion!!! The plot has me so intrigued that I am ready to reread this one just days after finishing it. It’s incredibly sexy, entertaining, and suspenseful enough to make it that book that hasn’t been far for my mind in more than a week. I’m consumed with desire to binge read the author—and for a blogger that rarely goes a day without an ARC to read and review, that’s a major problem. 😉 I can’t say enough good things about the book, but I also am hesitant to say much at all as it’s the kind of book you should go into blind. The less you know ahead of time, the more you are going to want to dive into this fantastic story. Also, I don’t want to give ANYTHING away. Spoilers suck and I’m the blogger that’s the least likely to take a chance on ruining a book for a reader.
Whether you are new—or a longtime fan—of Aleatha Romig, SPARK is the book you must, you absolutely MUST one-click. Right. Now. If I could hand this book more stars than the five I gave it for review purposes, I totally would. Oh, but definitely watch out for the cliffhanger…Aleatha definitely left Flame at the top of my February MUST READS!
Flame by Aleatha Romig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Flame kept me on the very edge of my seat into the wee hours of the morning. I’m absolutely loving my first trilogy by Aleatha Romig.
He tended the spark that had nearly extinguished and brought to life a flame.
Aleatha Romig has utterly captivated me with the Web of Desire series. After reading both Spark and Flame, I am absolutely dying to read the conclusion to this engrossing storyline. Not only are these books fast-paced, well-written and sexy—they are also original and keep me on the edge of my seat. As I read a new book almost daily, ‘original’ is not an easy feat to master for me these days, let alone maintain—especially throughout a trilogy. Yet, I find myself completely consumed and repeatedly surprised by the Web of Desire books. I love the hero, Patrick—he’s delicious 😉—and while Madeline’s just starting to come into herself, I am loving the transformation I’m seeing in her character as the story progresses. Ashes can not hit my kindle soon enough at this point. I highly recommend these books to readers who like a little mystery with a side of second chance romance because that’s exactly what they’re going to find while reading the Web of Desire books. Definitely a five star read!
I’d been broken. Now I was visible.
Ashes by Aleatha Romig
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My life with Patrick wouldn’t be delayed another seventeen years. I was done being a commodity that could be bartered, traded, or sold.
Web of Desire is the first trilogy I’ve read by Aleatha Romig and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed every single book. Ashes, the conclusion to the trilogy, had me up late turning page after page and very thankful for the opportunity to review this trilogy because it’s simply outstanding. In an effort to keep my reviews spoiler-free, I’ve refrained from commenting on much of the storyline so read this review without fear. 😉
Patrick and Madeline’s story was explosive from the very beginning and Ashes quite literally couldn’t have offered a more perfect ending to this second chance romance. Aleatha’s writing is outstanding and utterly enthralling. I LOVED the dual POV, the character chemistry and the intensity that builds and builds until the very end of Ashes! I couldn’t put down a single book in the series and I couldn’t have been more surprised to say that about each book. Often you find that at least one book in a trilogy is slower and less entertaining than the others but I never felt that way reading the Web of Desire books. Yes, readers interested in this trilogy must read the books in the correct order—Spark, Flame and finally Ashes—however, the series also falls in line with the Sparrow Web series.
The correct reading order of the Sparrow Web Series is:
WEB OF SIN:
Secrets
Lies
Promises
TANGLED WEB:
Twisted
Obessed
Bound
WEB OF DESIRE:
Spark
Flame
Ashes
If you’re like me and love to read books in order, I can put your mind at ease—you truly shouldn’t be overwhelmed by the other trilogies in the Sparrow Web series. Each trilogy (listed above) is its own storyline and that alone should make the decision to read Aleatha’s work less daunting! As I mentioned previously, I’d never read a book by Aleatha prior to receiving the copies of Spark, Flame, and Ashes on my kindle for my blog. However, that being said, I now have every intention of reading these books in the correct reading order. I highly recommend the Web of Desire Series! If you’re in a binge reading mood, you couldn’t possibly find yourself disappointed with these books! I would tell you this book might contain some triggers for certain readers—it talks of some pretty heavy subject matter. However, if dark romance is something you’ve read in the past, you’ll find this falls perfectly into the genre. Also, if you enjoy well-developed storylines and characters, I found that Aleatha did a superb job with both! Five Stars for sure! One-click the series now!!!!
