Warrior Undone was my first book by Jessica Ruben. Her backstock consists of a trilogy–of which I own the first book–however, with my insane blogging schedule, I had not had the time to devote to reading it yet. Now? I am absolutely kicking myself because I. FLOVED. Warrior Undone!!

“So, that’s how you see me? Some easy lay? Good enough to fuck in a car but nowhere else?” I pause. She’s completely wrong. I’d like nothing more than to screw her brains out in my bed. In my shower. Over my kitchen counter. But, if she enters my house, she’ll want to stay over. I can’t provide what she wants. I’m incomplete and fucked up. I’m a man who’s been altered by war. I’m not the man she thinks she knows.

The first thing that came to me when trying desperately to gather my thought about Warrior Undone was how much the book made me stop and think. I was blown away by how well Jessica wrote both characters and for being a single book, how much character growth she was able to include in the story. There was a lot happening, a lot of subplots, and she tied it together beautifully. But this was not an easy read. Getting into Slade’s characters PTSD, and how he choose to deal with it was incredibly tough for me as I have a loved one that struggles desperately with PTSD. The book brought so much home and I think Jessica deserves serious kudos for her accuracy and insight. I also think many women will connect with Lauren. Too many of us have walked in Lauren’s shoes—without the fringe benefits of a ‘Slade’ in our lives 😉. I loved the dual POV and the flow of this story. It sucked me in so quick and I swear I read this one on lightning speed because I couldn’t put it down. And Slade, wow… even though he was very hot and cold, understandably, he was magnetic. And let’s be real, Jessica Ruben certainly knows how to write a book that was hot as hell! I would love to have the time to read her trilogy immediately. It was just that outstanding. Buy this book and read it! You won’t be sorry!!!
