This Time Around by Stacey Lynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Stacey Lynn writes a beautiful second chance romance with This Time Around. Having read a few of Stacey Lynn’s previous books, I knew that I enjoyed her stories and writing style. However, since my experience was in the sports romance trope, and This Time Around is obviously not, I also knew that I needed to read her newest masterpiece with an open mind. I should have realized that if I liked her as much with the first several books I read, that there was no reason to second guess anything she writes. In the future, I won’t worry about whether or not I think something she writes will work for me as a reader because her stories just wow me!
This Time Around is the story of a man who’s been badly burned by his wife and needs a place to lay low while the scandal that surrounds him dies down. Cooper Hawke has everything going for him and then his wife is caught red handed cheating and he begins to question his life and the choices he’s made. Rebecca Splendid thought five years ago when she married the man of her dreams that she’d live HEA… only fate and mother nature have other plans for Rebecca’s life. With trust issues and broken hearts as common ground between Rebecca and Cooper nothing should be easy. Yet, Cooper realizes early on that Rebecca is worth everything and he is more than willing to show her just how priceless she is.
“…he wasn’t just sexy. He didn’t just kiss like God had gifted him the ability of perfect form. Every single thing about him drew me to him in ways I wanted to stop fighting…”
Rebecca and Cooper’s love story is beautifully written in duel perspectives and allows readers to follow Cooper and Rebecca on their journey to their own HEA. You’ll swoon over Cooper’s patience and acceptance for Rebecca, just as you will love the depth of his strengths. Rebecca’s story actually broke my heart and I loved reading her story as Cooper systematically rebuilt all that was broken in Rebecca. These characters were everything. I just loved them both and the deeper I came to know them as I read the pages of their story, the more I wanted… Also, while we are talking about love for Stacey Lynn’s characters, let’s not forget the ever-important secondary characters. This story had no shortage of important secondary characters, but I think the one I am most hoping to see in a book of his own is Rebecca’s brother, Jordan. I also want to take the time to see if Stacey Lynn has written a book about Rebecca’s best friend, Brooke.
“…my hand saw more action in the last two weeks than it had in high school, and my need to have her grew every day….”
Stacey Lynn is a talented story teller. This Time Around was so superbly well written you won’t want to come up for air once you begin reading. It’s a delicious slow burn story with a potent combination of angst, heat and intrigue, readers will be kept guessing as the journey through Rebecca and Cooper’s story. Her words are sure to draw you in and keep you reading long into the night. Pick up your copy of This Time Around now and start reading this absolutely wonderful story now. You’ll thank me…
