The First Lights by Christy Pastore is a second chance, sports romance with all the feels. What happens when the love of your life is stolen from you in the blink of an eye? Wyatt Hamilton and Hannah Rickman find out in The First Lights. A chance encounter lead between a sexy single mom, Hannah and Wyatt, her son’s coach, may just mean the chance for them both to finally do more than merely exist. Until a wedge is introduced when envy, fear and the question of morality enter their clandestine relationship. Christy Pastore writes a sweet, sexy, quick read that will have you turning page after page.

The First Lights is one of those stories that jumps right in and has you interested in what’s to come. I loved that it is written in dual perspectives (my favorite POV for sure). Wyatt and Hannah had a lot of sexual tension, and it was delicious waiting for them to stop circling each other. I love second chance romance but what really grabbed me about this book was the fact that it was a sports romance. So, I do recommend it to anyone who loves either. Now you might be asking yourself why I didn’t give this book 5 stars? It came down to a few small things for me… Before I tell you what those are, please know that I read a book or more a day. Therefore, what’s there is a difference between a book that I love (4 stars) and a book that is just amazing! (5 stars) for me. I did very much love The First Lights. I enjoyed the concept of the story… although it was a little predicable for me. That said, I do read a lot and most romances tend to fall into the predictable category for me. I had a hard time with a few timeline inconsistencies but not enough to even remotely consider DNFing the story. I would have liked a little more character development since the story was set to some very somber tones… and I would have liked more angst for this particular novel for the same reason. The relationship between Wyatt and Hannah was easy, even if it was concealed from their small town and Hannah’s seventeen-year-old son. Overall, I think it will be well loved by most readers and I would tell you to get a copy for yourself! I plan to read more of Christy’s work for sure.
