Surprise, Baby! by Leslie MacAdam and Lex Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“What happens on Mount Hood, stays on Mount Hood.”
Or not… In the Case of Surprise, Baby by bestselling authors Leslie MacAdam and Lex Martin. Surprise, Baby is a standalone contemporary romance that follows characters who first appear in All About the D. This is the perfect romance if you’re looking for a funny, sweet, seXXXy, and heartwarming book to cuddle up with. This story sucked me in so fast. I love both authors and it was so easy to jump on the blogger review team for Leslie and Lex. If you’ve never read either author, this is an excellent way to discover two authors as their collaborations are SPECTACULAR! You do not have to read All About the D to enjoy Surprise, Baby but I am one of those people that prefers to read my series books in order and that’s what I always recommend. Besides, I guarantee you that if you read one, you’ll be jumping all over the chance to read the second book, so just save yourself time now and start binge reading 😉.
I have no idea why Evie insists Kendall was so much fun growing up. That Debbie Downer’s got a stick so high up her ass, it’s lodged in her brain.
There are so many reasons that I loved Surprise, Baby. It’s a well written, entertaining romance that truly left me with warm fuzzies and a deep sigh of contentment when I finished reading. While I am not necessarily a huge fan of the surprise baby trope, there is no way I was passing up the chance to see what Leslie and Lex had in story for Drew and Kendall after their notoriously contentious relationship in All About the D. These two are ‘like Vaseline and sandpaper’ but it’s absolutely delicious reading their interactions because it’s straight up foreplay… And you know exactly what I am talking about! Each interaction between this pair amps up the heat until they’re simply a powder keg ready to blow. And when they get stuck in that snowpocalyse on Mount Hood?! It blows marvelously!!! The banter between Drew and Kendall is witty, driven by the pairs denial that they could possibly dip their toes into the well of attraction for the other! The book also falls into the enemies-to-lovers trope and that’s the real hook for me. I am a total Enemies-to-Lovers junkie. Surprise, Baby had me up late because I couldn’t put it down as I found it deliciously sexy and extremely entertaining. The pace is fast and consistent, you won’t find that it’s too slow or you loose interest. It’s also a dual POV romance so the characters are easy to connect to. And the plot is straight up fun!
Surprise, Baby is just one of those books that you can not miss! Grab your copy today and get to reading 😊

Quotes:
When will I ever learn that this guy is literally the last man on the planet I’ll ever be friends with? Because Drew Merritt is a PR nightmare.
—
“Let me put it this way.” I tap on the table, rattling the mug in front of me. “It would have to be a cold day in hell for me to consider going out with Drew Merritt.”
—
“We both know my track record is abysmal. The longest intimate relationship I’ve ever had is with my hand. Left one, mostly. I’m way out of my league with you, and I have no idea what I’m getting myself into. I’ve never had a FWF. But if I mess this up tonight, I’ll never forgive myself.”
—
Right now, in this moment, I want to focus on the guy I’ve come to know on this trip. The one who worships my body. The one who indeed treats me like a princess. Not Portland’s most eligible bachel

I want to believe this was all a big mistake. That Drew didn’t steal a three-thousand-dollar bottle of wine from the cabin’s cellar for shits and giggles and pretend he bought it for me. Because if that’s a lie, what other lines did he feed me? I don’t know how you fake what we shared, but if it was all a façade, he’s downright maniacal.

After the intensity of everything that happened today and the weeks we’ve spent apart, I expect him to ravish me. To fuck me so hard, I can’t walk straight tomorrow. But the minute our bare bodies are completely pressed together—chest to chest, belly to belly, thigh to thigh— he pauses to kiss me so slowly, every part of me aches from the most luscious sort of pain. Because I feel cherished.
