Luck of the Devil by Meghan March
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
WOW! What an explosive follow-up to Deal with the Devil. I seriously was so wrapped up in this story that when the last page was turned on my kindle, I kept swiping for more!!!!!!! Damn Meghan March, you rock.
…“I can’t call you Indy because we’re not friends.” …“True… Guess your options are wife, prize, the pawn, ace in the hole… Does it really matter? Pretty soon, I won’t be anything to you.”
It’s no secret that I have a major lady crush on Meghan March. I’ve been reading her books for several years now and she’s a go-to author of mine. Luck of the devil has been on my most anticipated list since the moment I finished Deal with the Devil. I won’t lie and say I didn’t expect the cliffhanger, because Meghan is the queen of cliffies for a reason. And just as I expected this book to end in a cliffhanger, and while I often joke about wanting to throw my kindle when I read cliffhangers, I didn’t expect to actually be that girl that did so! Although, I am now guilty of that sin… even with the sure expectation that Meghan’s reign as the queen of cliffhangers would continue. I was spectacularly unprepared for this one and Meghan left me hanging in a way that means March—and the final installment of this trilogy—cannot get here soon enough!!!
“We have covered this ground before, and I was being completely honest- you are everything I need.”
Just as with any other author, you have stories that you enjoy more then others…even if they are all five star reads. Meghan March always writes five star reads for me. Yet, the Forge Trilogy is my favorite trilogy by Meghan so far. If you’ve picked up Luck of the Devil, put it aside as you must read the books in order—so start with Deal with the Devil. Two books into the trilogy and it is undeniable: I’m totally obsessed with this story and Jericho Forge is my favorite Meghan hero! Maybe its because he’s an asshole, maybe it’s because he’s part pirate… and maybe it’s all the dirty talking and bedroom skills but regardless, Jericho checks all my boxes! Luck of the Devil ups the stakes on Indie and Jericho’s romance. From reading the first book, the enemies-to-lovers dynamic has shifted as the pair continue to get to know each other. And as they fall for one another, I can’t help but fall in-love with them again. Meghan writes badass heroes who fall hard for their ladies and that’s what we are seeing in Luck of the Devil. Indie and Jericho’s chemistry is off the charts hawt and the banter back in forth is its own version of foreplay. 😉 Speaking of… Make sure your batteries are charged or your spouse is on standby because this book is seXXXy!!!! OMG, like heatstroke hot! But, I digress. Back to the characters… I have such a girl crush right now on the ballsy heroine Indie. Both Jericho and Indie are showing a beautiful amount of character growth and I can’t wait to see what the final installment in the trilogy brings.
As soon as this is over, she’ll be determined to forget me and everything that happened between us, and I have a feeling I’ll be doing the opposite. I’ll hold on to every memory, jacking myself into oblivion as I try to forget this woman.
I always wonder how Meghan March (and others of like her) write such complex storylines which span multiple books and are so spectacularly entertaining without losing their audience. I myself would be completely daunted by such a task. Yet, Meghan March delivers these books regularly and with astounding superiority. The woman deserves serious kudos, that’s for sure. Also, while ‘drama’ is often the name of the game in romance, and Meghan March has provided plenty of that in the past, there is something about the Forge Trilogy that is just more… It’s truly been my privilege to read these books and leave reviews. While I have my complaints about being a blogger, knowing that I get to read a book from Meghan March early? Well, that will ‘never’ be one of them!!! Make sure you pick up Deal with the Devil and Luck of the Devil. Get these books read before the final book in the series—Heart of the Devil—is released mid-March. You’ll be thanking those of us that have been raving about the Forge Trilogy!
…It’s on the tip of my tongue to promise that I’ll never hurt her, but that would be a lie. The omissions I’ve already made will shred any trust she could ever place in me, destroy any feelings for me I can’t help but wish she had.
