Sing to Me by Lee Piper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“Why are you doing this?” My voice cracks on the final entreaty. Two thumbs trace semicircles on my cheeks.
“What?”
“Acting like I’m Sirius.”
“Who’s Sirius?”
“Not who, what. Sirius is the brightest star in the sky.”
“Because that’s what you are. The most luminous fucking creature I’ve ever seen.”
Lee Piper has quickly become a go-to author for me and I was incredibly excited to get my hands on the early copy of Sing to Me, book one in the On Tour duet. And Sing to Me was EVERYTHING I hoped it would be. I have followed the characters of the Rock Me series from the beginning and have fallen deeper and deeper under this author’s spell. With her customary sharp writing, witty banter, intense chemistry, and intriguing storylines, Lee Piper has NEVER once disappointed me and that goes double for Sing to Me as it surpassed my expectations. Yes, I am a huge fan of rockstar romances and while they aren’t for everyone when an author is as talented and gifted in the art of storytelling as Lee is, those skills bridge the gaps in genres and tropes for many readers. So take it from me, whether you’re a fan of the trope, Lee’s exceptional talents will undoubtedly win you over.
Drake Stone wants me. Wants me. The charismatic lead singer craves the broken, jaded girl with enough baggage to crush an army.
I vow to keep my distance from the man whose eyes promise truth yet actions scream lies. Never trust rock stars.
Sing to Me—as mentioned above—is the first book in a duet and is not a complete story on its own. That said, the story was absolutely captivated and left me utterly glued to my seat reading Drake and Harper book. The storyline was beyond intriguing, and whether you have read the other books written in the Rock Me Series—about the remaining members of Drake’s band—you can read the On-Tour duet as an individual storyline. And much like I found myself with the first book in the series, Lie to Me, you too will realize that falling in love with Lee Piper’s unique brand of writing is as simple as one-clicking!
He sees my truth, every brittle part, every ugly piece, every sharp corner, and still wants to claim it as his own.
“As much as I love the way you bite that bottom lip when you stare at my cock, I need the speaker fixed. Hundreds of panties are relying on my voice to make them wet tonight.” The hand rubbing his stomach shifts until it’s solemnly placed over his heart. “It’s my civic duty to soak them.”
The characters of Sing to Me took me by storm right from the beginning. We’ve met the hero, Drake Stone, in the previous books of the Rock Me Series. Drake is the lead singer, he’s intense, funny and a true panty-drencher extraordinaire. These character traits have followed Drake from the very beginning (when readers were introduced to him in Lie to Me) and now that I’ve gotten to read his story, I’ve added a new trait: alpha male at his finest—sexy, sweet and completely gone for his very own sharp-tongued heroine. He’s anything but your typical rockstar. Then there is Sing to Me’s aforementioned ‘sharp-tongued’ heroine Harper. She finds herself touring as Drake’s roadie and the chemistry is instantaneous. Harper’s character is sassy, complex and distrusting but she lives for sound… and has her own considerable talents with instruments and equipment that I personally found fascinating. As Sing to Me is written entirely from Harper’s POV, readers will discover her hidden heartbreak and will be quivering with a few unanswered questions as we await the conclusion to the duet.
My throat tightens, and I have the sudden urge to avert my gaze. But I don’t. Can’t. Not when he’s looking at me like that. Like I’m a meteor shower burning up the atmosphere and he can’t get enough of it.
Not wanting anyone to see how his loaded expression sets off a pyrotechnic display in my panties, I go about straightening and adjusting equipment.
Sing to Me follows a beautiful storyarc. Even without reading the second book at this point, I can already see how Lee Piper was left with little choice but to split the story into two books to give true justice to her characters. This love story had me chuckling, swooning and in need of a cold shower! Lee Piper’s love of music bleeds into her stories and makes them all the richer for it. Additionally, while I regularly read rockstar romances, I found that Sing to Me was truly unique in a number of ways—but I won’t comment on those in order to keep this review spoiler-free. I am beside myself waiting for the conclusion to Drake and Harper’s romance after the cliffhanger that sent me spinning. This is an absolute five star read and I highly recommend you one-click this immediately and stop wasting time on reviews!
I lock down my expression, refusing to give him anything. The less I give, the less he can use against me. After all, in my experience, that’s what people do. Find weaknesses and exploit them.
Somehow, someway, Drake Stone’s hands are meant to be on me. Even worse, a fundamental part of me wants them to remain where they are. Indefinitely.
