Just an Illusion – Side A by D. Kelly was INCREDIBLE! As book 1 of 3 books, Readers meet Amelia Greyson (aka Mel), as she reluctantly accepts a position with Bastards and Dangerous on their goodbye tour. No stranger to celebrities, she’s not phased in the slightest by touring with the number one band in the industry. Without question, Mel is the most intriguing woman fraternal twins Noah and Sawyer Weston have ever met. And it doesn’t hurt that she is gorgeous. Used to women throwing themselves at the chance to sleep with a rockstar, Mel’s friendly, yet uninterested domineer intrigues all the members in the band. From the beginning, Mel feels a pull toward both Noah and Sawyer and it’s absolutely not one sided! Will Mel fall for sweet and considerate Noah or audacious and cocky Sawyer?
I loved this book… which honestly really didn’t surprise me since I’ve loved anything I have read that D. Kelly has released. She’s extremely talented. Her books are well-written. While Just an Illusion is told over the course of multiple books, each book does have it’s own plot but builds on the overall timeline. The flow of the books is not rushed, and for that reason, we literally fall head-over-heals in love with all the key members of the story. And that includes the members of the band who are just secondary characters like Wyatt and his Anna & Darren and Belle. As important as secondary characters are to a story, the primary characters Mel, Sawyer and Noah truly grabbed my heart and never gave it back. They were diverse and yet similar, complimentary to one another as only a great writer can make fictional characters. I loved crawling around in Mel’s brain and living her heartbreak right along side of her. Since the story is strictly told through her narrative at this point, readers depend on D. Kelly’s ability to convey Sawyer and Noah’s point of view through their actions and words. Some author do this well and other’s not at all. D. Kelly pulled it off with amazing success. Regardless of this story’s perspective, readers are able to connect with the stories hero’s amazingly well and that is true talent.
Just an Illusion has risen to one of my favorite series that I have ever read. I would tell you to immediately buy this series and plan to start with book one and keep going through the end of the series, if I couldn’t put it down, I am sure you won’t be able to either.
