Heart of the Devil by Meghan March

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow. What an explosive conclusion to the Forge Trilogy. Heart of the Devil was a nonstop, thrilling rollercoaster of events that culminated into a truly unpredictable story. Meghan March delivers a powerful and seductive romance which is deserving of far more than five stars and I couldn’t have possibly loved this trilogy more.

Happily-ever-afters don’t start with losing a bet, kidnappings, and negotiations.

Heart of the Devil is the epic conclusion to the Forge Trilogy. This also happens to be my new personal favorite series from New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Meghan March. Heart of the Devil picks up exactly where readers were left hanging at the end of Luck of the Devil, and this installment of the trilogy is just as much a rollercoaster of events as the previous books. Please note that this is a trilogy (as previously mentioned) and you must read these books in order to follow the storyline. Correct reading order is:

I have truly loved each and every book in this trilogy, and yet I can not help but state that this is one example of saving the best for last! Indie and Jericho’s romance is unquestionably original and entertaining. Meghan March is an exceedingly talented author. The stories she pens are sexy, entertaining and simply outstanding romances for readers to consume at their leisure. I, for one, struggle to put down her books once I have started reading them and Heart of the Devil was no different. It captured my attention from the first line, and after a long night, I finished in just one sitting. I felt that it was set to a fast, yet perfect pace the drove me to keep reading from cover to cover. There is nothing like that feeling of contentment one achieves after a truly satisfying romance and that’s just what I felt after I finished the Forge Trilogy.

Heart of the Devil concludes the romance between India Baptiste and Jericho Forge. It’s a dual POV romance with outstanding character depth and progression over the course of the trilogy. I loved Indie’s character on every level, but I have a soft spot for assholes in my romances… meaning Jericho is definitely my favorite character. I also think he had the most character progression and has taken the place of my favorite MM Hero. Jericho is that hero… you know the one that’s deeper than expected, a proverbial fortress of strength who never displays a feeling? Yes, that’s the one. But once he meets Indie, well, let’s just say all bets are off—He falls hard for one woman, one he never saw coming, one who was supposed to just be a means to revenge—and the fall is supremely satisfying to watch. Indie sets his world on fire and by the epilogue of this one, I was ready to proclaim my undying love for Jericho… And if I am being honest, the ‘Cracken’ may have some small part in that 😉. I guarantee if you’ve read MM before, you know all about how hot her romances can be. Heart of the Devil—hell, the entire trilogy for that matter—is no exception. Have your spouses on standby or those batteries charged because you will be a mess in need of a cold shower whenever you pick up something by MM. Also, it’s important that you’re planning ahead when you read a book by this particular author because I guarantee that you will be binge reading everything in her catalogue after just one book—that’s what I did!!! Reading is pure joy for me. I have read a book a day since I was about 7, so that’s a long time… Now that I am a blogger, I have been so lucky to discover many talented authors that I hadn’t read in the past. More than two years ago, it’s how I discovered MM and she’s remained one of my favorite authors since I read that very first book. She consistently writes 4- and 5-star romances that remind me all over again just why I fell in love with reading so many years ago. Having the opportunity to jump on reading books like Heart of the Devil for my blog is always such an honor and I can’t wait to see what Meghan March delivers next to readers.

Jericho Forge doesn’t have a single clue what it’s like to be the center of someone’s world. He’s about to find out.

Quotes:

Forge doesn’t need me. He doesn’t need anyone. The glimpse of the man I saw behind the granite wall was a mirage. He doesn’t exist.

She’s a siren, and I’m the sailor she’s trying to lure in. I’ve never wrecked a ship, but she could tempt me to do anything.

The pity in their eyes stokes the inferno of rage that I’m hoping will meld my broken heart back into something recognizable. The fires of the forge.

It wasn’t the island that was home. It’s the man.

She’s the one thing money can’t buy, and she’s my fucking world.
