Every day I fucking drown in you and I don’t wanna come up for air.

Gods and Monsters by Saffron A. Kent is a beautifully crafted masterpiece. In the small town of Profit, two things reign supreme, their religion and the legend of David Adams and Delilah Evens. David and Delilah were cousins…and as fate would have it fell in love. But like legends do, their love faced pitfalls and the two were forced to flee in the night or face dyer circumstances. Now 14 years later, their son Abel Adams is forced to the small minded town that drove his parents out.

And that baby? People called it an abomination. The devil’s spawn. They said only monsters could be created from a love like David and Delilah’s.

And his own legends begins with the appearance of the waiflike little girl with no shoes and dirty feet and calves. Evie is the town princess – although not by choice. Under her mothers cruel guidance and her father’s spinelessness, she grows up believing deeply in God and the fact that there is more to the story of David and Delilah then she’s told. When Abel steps out of his Uncle’s truck and her eyes first find his, she’s mesmerized by the most beautiful boy she’s ever laid eyes on. Utter fascination leads Evie and Able to form an unlikely friendship…a friendship that is hidden from everyone in the town. Friendship leads to a love so deep that when circumstances lead to a repeat of the nightmare that befell David and Delilah, Evie and Abel flee the same town late in the night. What comes after that? Well, you will have to read the book because I refuse to post spoilers! However, I will give you this…Saffron A. Kent’s Gods and Monsters really, really surpassed all my expectations for the story and was intensely erotic and deeply moving.

The things that I loved about this book were many – more then I could possibly name in this review. I loved that Evie (aka Pixie) was so beautiful inside and out. Her light shown so bright and her need to protect Abel superseded her own well-being. The two faced untold hardships and their love continued to flourish! I loved that Evie wasn’t cowed by her mother in the end, that she overcame the circumstances of her birth to do what was right. Even when what was right almost broke her, Evie persevered! Then there is Abel. Let’s not mince words here, that man was definitely a God. Or at least one of the words hottest book boyfriends that I have ever read. (And that right there speaks VOLUMES!) His nickname for Evie, Pixie, was fun and sweet – just like Abel. Kent wrote the story so well that for a time, Abel was the antihero and the hero rolled up in one ball and you wanted to hate him, but your love of him was stronger. Initially the book is told from Evie’s perspective, but in the second half of the book, we begin to get Abel’s perspective and in doing this, Kent’s story becomes even more beautiful and intense…a fleet that I didn’t think possible at that point. It was honestly a stroke of genius on her part. Then, lets face it…then there was the sex. And holy h3ll was that intense…and erotic…WOW. I have no words. This woman can craft sexy times that will leave you, the reader, on the cusps of needing a cold shower and your own sexy times!

There was so much more that I could speak of that made me head-over-heels in love with Gods and Monsters, but here’s what it boils down to. BUY. THE. BOOK! This incredible book is superbly well-written and will keep you unwilling and unable to put it down.
