“I’m not sure whether I love her or hate her. I don’t know if it’s myself I should hate for allowing her to occupy my mind, or if I should Thank god for giving me the ability to love her so much that I’ve made an altar in my head of the memories we shared.”
OHMYGOD! I am completely stunned by Desolate. This book, y’all, this book is NOT a book you should miss!!! I went through a riot of emotions in this book. Like a truly amazing emotional rollercoaster, one minute I was soaring, then I was swooning (‘cause Sol was sooooo wow!!!) and then I was sobbing. And I am already planning on a reread of Desolate.
This was my first opportunity to read a book by Autumn Grey even though I own all the books in her backstock, I haven’t had the time to read them yet. The list of books in my TBR is outta control and as a blogger, I keep a pretty packed schedule. But for real, y’all, I. am. kicking. my own ass right now! Her writing is very compelling. The characters are incredible. And the story… wow! I couldn’t put this book down. I follow Autumn Grey on several social media platforms, so obviously, her work has been on my radar. When I read this blurb for Desolate, I was incredibly intrigued… so much so that I jumped all over the opportunity to get my hands on an advanced review copy that I could slide into my blog schedule. Thank you to all the deities I can name right now because this book was just everything…. EVERYTHING! I can say without a doubt that Autumn Grey should probably run… ‘cause I am going to be a hardcore stalker after reading this one!
“Kissing Solomon Callan was like being swept away by an unpredictable storm.”
“If you don’t look directly at the sun, chances of getting blinded by its rays are very slim.”
Desolate is a new adult romance which takes place in the months following the high school graduation of Grace Miller and Solomon Callan. The storyline is taboo – I mean our hero is leaving for the seminary to become a Priest—but the magnetism he’s felt for nearly a decade towards Grace can no longer be denied. Desolate is the first book of three, so just be prepared—the story is not wrapped up with a neat little bow when you reach the final pages. I would say it’s more of a soft cliffhanger and not necessarily the kind that leaves you wanting to throw your kindle… although it was a thought since I have no idea when book 2—aptly named Disgraced—will release! I read this book nonstop. I felt like Autumn Grey kept the pace perfectly in tune with the story. Additionally, it’s very well written with a storyline that kept me completely captivated. While I do not mind New Adult romances by any stretch of the imagination, I’m often more inclined to look for love stories with characters that are slightly older, mostly due to the level of maturity the characters exhibit. Yet, Grace and Sol are not your average high school graduates. Their relationship does consist of a lot of pushing and pulling—which to be perfectly clear, I would expect for their ages—they are more mature than most eighteen-year-olds. Their pasts have forced them to give up much of their innocence and in turn, to mature much faster than their peers. The tragic circumstances of their individual pasts serves as a bridge for them to build a bond and their chemistry was both undeniable and super sexy. There was an agony inherent in reading the prologue, followed by the progression of Grace and Sol’s relationship which was in opposition with the clock ticking down on their time together. I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing what more Autumn Grey has in store for Grace and Sol ASAP! 😉 If you are looking for something that’s going to hold your attention from start to finish, you absolutely can. not. go. wrong. with Desolate!
“When it comes to Sol, my body has only one reaction—combustion.”
