Dangerous Exes by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
When I came across the blurb for Dangerous Exs, it sounded promising and like one I couldn’t miss out on, so I requested the opportunity to read and review it for my blog. Of course, that didn’t prepare me for just how awesome I would find it. And I did. I absolutely LOVED Dangerous Exs!!! This was the first time I have read a Rachel Van Dyken book. Which is just crazy because after I finished it, and loved it so much, I did a search for her other books and I own like 10 of them—goes to show you how often I buy a book just because it’s got a great blurb or a killer cover. As a blogger, I keep a fairly tight reading schedule, so I don’t often get the chance to go back through the books I buy or my TBR. And I really hope that changes soon because I can’t wait to read more of Rachel Van Dyken’s work.
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Dangerous Exs or Rachel Van Dyken’s writing. And since I am usually very critical of books, that in itself is high praise. Dangerous Exs is a well written, dual perspective romance that is unlike any others I have read. This enemies-to-lovers romance was funny, sweet and sexy and I couldn’t put it down from start to finish. I loved the characters and hated what they went through to find their HEAs. Jessie is seriously swoonworthy. The constant banter and antics between him and Isla had me laughing out loud. At one point my abs even hurt from how much I was laughing. But the laughter is also tempered with heartfelt moments and sexy fun times. The plot was relatively well-paced, although there were a few brief moments that I thought were slower than I would have liked, but overall it kept me extremely entertained. Since Dangerous Exs is the second book in the series and I hadn’t read Dirty Exs—book 1 of the Liars, Inc. series—I can attest to the fact that you can read these as complete a standalone. Mind you, the first thing I did after finishing Dangerous Exs was to one-click Dirty Exs! I want more of the backstory and I just flat loved all the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for an enemies-to-lovers rom-com that is a light and quick read.
