Bad Idea Review
Bad Idea is the first book I have read by author Nicole French. I could not have possibly loved this book more. In fact, I would say that to date in 2017, Bad Idea is without question my favorite book of the year.
Bad Idea is a story about extraordinarily beautiful Layla Barros, a 19-year old college student at NYU. Having fought a long and hard battle to even attend NYU, Layla has is forced to get a part-time job to afford everything except basic tuition costs – the only thing her affluent parents are willing to help her with. Like most things that happen in life, good things come when you are least expecting it. Layla knew Nico Soltero was all wrong for her. I mean, he was the wrong age, had the wrong education and job. Basically the wrong everything. Yet, the connection between them was palatable to everyone within a three-block radius in New York City! Yet love is never easy or convenient and Layla and Nico will have to make life-altering decisions…The only question that remains is will they make them together or apart?
I loved this book for so many reasons. First and foremost, the characters of Layla and Nico stole my heart right from the start…which coincidentally was how quickly I got sucked into this story. Bad Idea’s characters and plot were both extremely well developed. There was nothing simple about this storyline at all. Both characters have had to work for everything their whole lives, and that doesn’t end just because their hearts have found one another. Also, as the story is told with duel perspectives, we, the audience understand so much more about both Layla and Nico. They were written so well that at times, you actually felt their emotions. Throughout this book, I would have goosebumps! Another point in this books favor, the dialogue! The dialogue keeps the story progressing without any lulls and helps tie you emotionally to both the storyline and it’s characters.
Nicole French stood out as a true master! The intricately woven steam, sizzle, sweetness and angst left me literally shaking off and on throughout the story. Nico is passionate and very deep. He is also extremely sexual in a way that Layla has never experienced before. The heat in this book is intense, and it just seems to build and build. Trust me, this is seriously the signs of a skilled romance author…I mean, sometimes sex, making love, and downright f*cking is a very, very fine line.
I really hated leaving Bad Idea’s with a mere 5 stars. It deserves so much more. I was so captivated by the story and I know other readers will be too!!!
