But in that breaking, the question remains, can Miranda move beyond a pain so intense that it extinguishes her light, casting her in her own personal hell?!?!

A Steel Heart By Amie Knight was a beautiful story about a medically discharged Army Ranger and a book editor for Indy Romance Authors. Miranda is obsessed with making lists and silently stalking the gorgeous piece of man meat that had moved into her building Holden was obsessed with keeping his life a rigid and in control as he kept it through all his years of service. Two souls who connect with one another, really they never knew what hit them. But sometimes, love isn’t enough…

I’ve never read anything by Amie Knight before but I love military romance…after all, I am a proud US Army wife. This story was so incredibly beautiful. It resonated deeply in my heart and I couldn’t put it down. This love story unfolded so sweetly…and coming from such tragedy as the backstory in this book, it was also hilarious and light — which shows me exceptional skill on behalf of Amie Knight. I mean writing about a broken soldier who is barely existing isn’t easy in the best of circumstances and often I would qualify these stories a dark romance. But that isn’t the case with A Steel Heart. I loved that this story was told through duel perspective as I feel that it allows me to connect more with both characters. I loved how Mae became everything to Holden and although his fear of losing her was immense, Holden still opened himself to Mae. I loved Mae’s knock knock jokes and the depth of her love for Holden. Sometimes in a relationship, one person has to be the stronger partner and Amie Knight did a wonderful job of showing the give and take In Steel Heart. My favorite line in this story was:

“…because without this, there’d be no Mae and Holden. You’d still be somewhere in the desert fighting and I’d still be here all alone…”

I highly, highly recommend this story. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll rush to one-click everything Amie has written…I did!
