Unraveled Review – 4.5 stars
I’ve just finished Unraveled by Mia Kayla and it was awesome! I loved the everything about the book from the character and secondary characters to the plot and angst. Angelina Armstrong is the town princess who has been with her high school sweetheart for eight years. However, her life is anything but the fairytale others believe she lives. Tired of living a fake life, sick of coming in last to the man that has been her everything…Angelina takes her life and future into her own hands and walks away from everything her ex provided for her. Cade Ryker is the last person Angelina expects to captivate her. Yet he does, his bad boy looks and his huge heart offer Angelina a chance at a life that she has always longed for. She just has to take the first steps and own up to her breakup with Roland…and the love she has for Cade.
This book offered all the feel good of a great romance…along with some pretty intense angst that held me completely captivated. The sexy times were top notch and really beautiful! I will never be able to think about eating cake again without thinking of this book. Mia knows how to make you fall in love with her characters and I was rooting for Cade from the get-go! I truly hated Roland. But not because he was nefarious or a bad guy…he was just a douche who wanted his perfect, trophy wife without putting any effort into his relationship. Which just isn’t how love works…I loved the reality of the situation Angel found herself in. I loved how real her decisions were and how despite the differences between the life the author created for Angel and my own, I felt like I really connected with her character. On the other hand, & probably my only complaint about this book is the lack of duel perspectives that would allow readers to connect more with our hero, Cade. I loved his character, however, I didn’t feel like he was as real as Angel. The lack of his Voice… his anguish was alluded to & but the loss of his perspective did detract from the story for me. That is literally my own complaint and the only reason I rated this book as less then a five star review. It shouldn’t stop readers from grabbing the book and digging in…you will love the book. I did. And I truly can’t wait to read more by Mia Kayla.
