If you follow my blog or me, you see that I read and review an average of a book a day. Calling myself an avid reader is almost an understatement. 😉 And over the course of the last 7 months, I have read some seriously awesome books, BUT Perfect Vision by L.M. Halloran is my favorite book this year. There is a lot about this book that spoke to me as a reader and a lot more that I can’t put into a review, both personally and because you really just need to read it for yourself. What I can say is that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt is that I can’t possibly put into words just how spectacular this book was with any true measure that would do justice to the story L.M. Halloran wrote. I would implore you to skip reviews and immediately one-click Perfect Vision.
As an avid reader, I have read a wide range of authors and tropes and have been truly blessed to find some outstanding novels. I’ve been reading like a fiend for more than 30 years according to my parents and in those decades, my tastes have grown from early children’s books to classic literature and poetry. As a preteen, I grew obsessed with books like Bran Stoker’s Dracula and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein until at some point the switch flipped and I was obsessed with romance books… go figure! Now, I still read the Devine Comedy and many others such books yearly after my primary genre became romance, but I somehow manage to remain true to love stories for the last 20+ years. Austen, the Brontë sisters, Tolstoy and so many other authors have helped shaped my obsession with the written word. In the last several weeks, I found a dozen awesome books by self-published authors that I would recommend for any number of reasons. I reference all of this as evidence to the true depth of my love for books and why I do feel qualified to offer this review of L.M. Halloran’s work.
I will not even attempt to spin a new synopsis for Perfect Vision, I’m not an author who possesses the talents to draw a reader in with just a few sentences. Instead, I will tell you just a few of the things that I truly loved about this story. Perfect Vision is exceptionally well crafted and left me completely and utterly riveted as the story unfolded. I literally forwent any and all sleep over the course of the night so that I might finish the story before my three toddlers woke up. If you have young children, you know that sleep is not just precious, but a necessity for survival! 😉 And yet, I cannot even remotely regret my decision to read Perfect Vision from cover to cover! The characters – Dominic and London – are arresting in their own rights. Yet, the combination of the two makes the pair a true powerhouse. Both have pasts that have broken them, and yet as they come together, their broken pieces bind them as a truly staggering jigsaw – completed only together. Dominic and London have intense chemistry that is apparent from their first meeting and as the story progresses, you will find that those sparks are more powerful than 4th of July fireworks. This romance is a dark, BDSM romance that explores the world of Safe, Sane, and Consensual intimately. And I give kudos to the author for her readily apparent research for this book. L.M. Halloran has her own unique way of telling a story, and in the case of Perfect Vision, it is not linearly. Instead, Halloran writes Perfect Vision in a series of chapters that jump back and forth between the past and the present. Don’t fret though, there is absolutely nothing confusing about the manner in which the story is told and in fact, her delivery makes this story more powerful and phenomenal in my opinion. I have absolutely no doubt that after you undertake the maze that is Perfect Vision’s plot, you’ll be highly impressed with the story.
L.M. Halloran is an extraordinary author. Her stories are intense and superbly well written. Her romances have never once failed to draw me in and keep me completely captivated. Perfect Vision is the fourth book I have read by L.M. Halloran and I can’t tell you how completely riveting I found this dark, BDSM Romance. Of course, if you can’t get beyond either of those key elements, then Perfect Vision may not be your cup of tea. On the other hand, if you’re even remotely curious at this point, I would argue that at worse, you’ll be out a couple of bucks on a book. BUT just consider how much more you will kick yourself if you miss out on this astonishing story down the road when L.M. Halloran is a RITA award holder, as I have no doubt she will one day be. The way she writes is completely unpredictable and each story lends itself to a true uniqueness that sometimes feels like it no longer exists in modern day romances. With just six books beneath her, L.M. Halloran shows a truly remarkable level of growth in her storytelling abilities – and make no mistake, her early books were great… her fourth through sixth? ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD! In fact, I would argue that she has surpassed many of my tried and true favorite romance authors. One-Click Perfect Vision now and find out for yourself why I am so enamored with this author and this story…
