Wow, just WOW! Whiskey Rebellion was a beautiful conclusion to Leaona Luxx’s Lies and Whiskey duet. I have followed Leaona Luxx through her publishing journey and read every word she writes (and I have read them more than a few times) and yet, with each book she writes, my love for her words grows… My belief in her talent is reinforced… and I am constantly left in aww of the journeys I’ve undertaken within the pages of her novels. Her talent is immense, and she is one of my top go to authors and I one-click every single book. I *may* even own each of her books in paperback editions as well. 😉

When Leaona Luxx left readers with a doozy of a cliffhanger at the end of Lies in Ink and Whiskey, I was distraught and as fractured as Maisyn, the heroine. And even with my intense abhorrence of cliffhangers I could give the book no less than 5-stars! But the story that Leaona was telling was too intense and complex to do it just in one book without cutting away at the core of the book. So as much as it killed me to wait for the conclusion – and make no mistake, I was literally dying!!! – I appreciated the cliffhanger for providing Leaona the chance to tell the story more fully. When I saw my blogger’s copy of Rebellion hit my kindle, I immediately re-read Lies in Ink and Whiskey and then proceeded to read straight through the end of Whiskey Rebellion. I couldn’t put the conclusion down and in fact PM’ed the author at 3 am to profess my love of this book! (That’s Social Media Stalking at its best! 😉)

As a whole, the Lies and Whiskey duet is intense and heartbreaking, much like all of Leaona Luxx’s previous works. It’s told in duel POV which happens to be my personal favorite and while I wouldn’t recommend reading Whiskey Rebellion without first reading Lies in ink and Whiskey, it is written as a complete story. It’s well paced and kept me hanging on by a thread right up til the last words. I find that books by Leaona Luxx have several attributes that hold true with each story, Rebellion included! You are going to live through enormous heartache before her characters finally get a HEA. Her heroines are fierce and have been through absolute hell. Her heroes fall quickly and deeply in love with their ‘one’ and move heaven and earth to give their women a HEA worthy of them. There is no shortage of angst and plenty of snarky comments that will have you LOL at some point! All in all, the books Leaona Luxx writes are the whole package and outstanding contemporary romances. I would shout my love of them from the rooftop if it would draw more attention to the talents this author possesses.

Whiskey Rebellion kept me glued to my seat. I absolutely loved the Heroine and Hero in this duet and their chemistry is smoking hawt!!! Leaona wrote them with such amazing personalities that I felt like they were realistic. Oh, and their relationships with the characters from Leaona’s previous books endeared them to me all the more… since those same characters hold special places in my heart. Maisyn was an incredible heroine whose strength and self-worth underwent a radical change for the better. Then, there was Lachlan, the Scotsman that stole my heart from his first words… and that certainly had nothing to do with my own heritage 😉 but that man, wow! Lachlan certainly is deserving of a first-rate book boyfriend status! Leaona’s books read with a Southern style that I find charming.

My list of reasons for you to buy a book written by Leaona could go on and on, but I hope that at some point you skipped this review and just bought the book! I have introduced Leaona’s books to many friends and they too feel that her southern family romances are outstanding and not to be missed…
