Weather the Storm by L.K. Farlow
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
I’ve recently finished Weather The Storm by LK Farlow and having liked her stories before, I was certainly anticipating reading this one. And as with all the other stories I have read by LK Farlow, I was just as satisfied when I read those last two words… The End. As the third book in her Southern Roots series, readers get a glimpse into the couples we have grown attached too in the previous works of this series. However, we also got to see Simon and Magnolia fight tooth and nail for their own Happily Ever After.
I was anxious to start reading Weather The Storm after I saw the cover (which is just beautiful!) and read the blurb. And I have to say that this is definitely my favorite book by LK Farlow yet. I loved the studious and sexy Simon and his passion for Magnolia. He’s dedicated and sincere in wanting the very best for her and I love that in a hero. He’s also very southern and sweet… which is a hallmark of LK Farlow’s writing style as well. Magnolia has been looked down on her whole life, and after leaving a dangerously abusive husband, she is just starting to feel like the girl she used to be. But her past and her present are about to collide and it’s anyone’s guess where the author was going to take us on this beautiful journey. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed both the Hero and Heroine as well as the secondary characters and hope that we get another Southern Roots book very soon about Seraphine.
Also noteworthy is that while this is a subject matter that is often hard to read, Weather The Storm is still a sweet and easy read. Yes, it deals with issues of abuse, but it does so tastefully. The story did wrench my heart at intervals but was geared more towards the love Simon and Magnolia are building together. The writing is engaging and will keep you reading until you’ve reached the end… Also, if this is your first book by Farlow, have no fear, you can read these books out of order and still enjoy them immensely.
