The Real by Kate Stewart
My Rating: 5++ Stars!!!
Kate Stewart’s books never fail to amaze me with their depth and creativity. The Real, her latest masterpiece is nothing short of spectacular and should not be missed! Kate’s books always seem to be deeper and lead to an all-out emotional rollercoaster for me as I read them. Somehow, in writing The Real, Kate managed to not only blow away my expectations for this love story, but she introduced topics like addiction and abuse – both very common plot twists in romance- and made the story seem 100% unique. That’s serious talent!!! I won’t bore you with my own synopsis of the story, and I promise no spoilers in this review. However, I really urge you to ignore the plethora of reviews available for The Real and just buy the book. Getting started now will inevitably lead you to the same conclusion I have had – Kate Stewart is incapable of writing less than a five-star read!
A chance encounter in a Wicker Park coffee shop leads Cameron and Abbie to embrace a simple set of rules to pursue a chance at finding something lasting with a solid foundation. Cameron is delicious and truly moved me with his willingness to put Abbie’s needs above his own. His patience and sexually draw you in without a doubt, but it’s the extent to which he goes to show Abbie true romance that made me fall in love with him. He is my favorite kind of romance hero and his depth only grows once readers begin to read his own thoughts later in the story. Abbie is terrified of repeating past mistakes therefore opening herself up to Cameron is at turns incredibly simple and exceedingly difficult. Abbie’s whole persona is a conundrum because she is a mix of strong and broken… but will inevitably cause you to fall as much in love with her as you will with Cameron. The Real is a slow burn romance with intense chemistry between the hero and heroine. Yet, Kate Stewart’s The Real will leave you in need of fresh panties and a cold shower! Cameron and Abbie’s relationship is passionate and downright explosive!
As much as I loved the characters in The Real, it was Kate Stewart’s delivery of a poignant and inspirational plot kept me completely captivated! First, the story is told in duel perspectives however readers will not start reading Cameron’s thoughts unlike later in the book. The delay of Cameron’s POV delivers a resounding blow and also allows for some truly excellent plot twists. The Real delivers a genuine love story that was truly heartwarming. It beautifully intertwined humor and sizzle with very real issues that will keep you intrigued from start to finish. This love story is unlike anything I have read before and I truly can not praise Stewart’s delivery enough. I wish I could give it more than a five-star review because less than five-plus stars doesn’t accurately express the love I have for this book!
